The Associate Dean for Graduate Studies and Research reports to the Dean, and along with the Associate Dean for undergraduate Studies and the Department Heads is an ex-officio member of the School/Faculty Steering Committee.

This policy outlines the responsibilities of faculty and students regarding academic advising.

Discrimination, Harassment & Sexual Misconduct Policy

The Holy Spirit University of Kaslik (USEK) is committed to maintaining the highest standards that promote respect and human dignity in an environment that fosters academic excellence and professionalism. Discrimination, harassment and sexual misconduct, intimidation or exploitation are antithetical to the university’s mission and core values and violate university policy.

Extra Compensation Policy

In special circumstances, The Holy Spirit University of Kaslik (University, USEK) allows full-time faculty to receive additional compensation from the University in excess of their Base Salary for teaching courses that are in addition to their normal "load" as defined in USEK faculty bylaws (Art. 8) and in response to a special or urgent need that can best be satisfied by the faculty as determined by the appropriate Head of Department, Dean and the Provost, in accordance with this Policy.

Faculty Bylaws

The purpose of the Faculty Bylaws is to set the framework for recruitment, promotion and performance appraisal for faculty members at USEK. They aim also to support Faculty career track in research and in learning and teaching and ensuring an enhanced student learning experience. These bylaws are made to serve and enforce USEK mission as a catholic institution founded by the Lebanese Maronite Order.

Faculty Conduct and Discipline Policy

The Faculty member is responsible for maintaining the highest virtuous principles through promoting USEK’s Catholic tradition and mission welded with values, ethics, respect, and pluralism. The Faculty member, who may commit any violation of policies, regulations or decisions in effect at USEK, will be subject to a disciplinary measure according to the provisions below.

Faculty Grievances Procedure

The University has established a Grievance Procedure to facilitate the review and resolution of concerns raised by aggrieved faculty members at USEK regarding the proper implementation of policies and procedures.

Full‐time Professional Development Leave Policy

The purpose of Professional Development Leave (PDL) is to make it possible for members of the Full‐time Faculty to take time off from normal academic duties for scholarly research and study. The use of Professional Development Leave must demonstrate the faculty commitment and contribution to the University research policy and teaching development.

Institutional Gift Acceptance Policy

The Holy Spirit University of Kaslik (the “University”) encourages the solicitation and acceptance of gifts from individuals, corporations, or foundations to fulfill its mission of education, research and service as stated in its bylaw. The purpose of this Policy is to define the standards by which gifts will be accepted, repurposed, or returned.

Intellectual Property Policy

This section lays down the university policy and procedures associated with the ownership and commercialization of any intellectual property generated by staff, faculty members, students and others participating in the university research programs over the course of their work and studies at USEK.

Peer Review of Teaching

Peer Review of Teaching (PRT) is a process of evaluation designed to provide feedback to faculty members about their teaching. It is sometimes called "Peer Observation of Teaching".

Provost Council Bylaws

The Provost's Council (PC) raison d’être is academic excellence and the education of students in a holistic way to develop leaders instilled with a strong foundation of ethics and Catholic thought who will make a positive impact on society. This raison d’être adheres to USEK’s educational mission and aims at its achievement.

Recruitment and Hiring Guidelines

Perhaps the most important activity that academic administrators pursue is the hiring and evaluation of the professionals who work at USEK. Therefore, the process of conducting a search, of building a pool of applicants that reflects the diversity and richness of our profession, of bringing candidates to campus for interviews, of judging the appropriate match with USEK, and of negotiating with the preferred candidate is a matter of utmost seriousness.

University Committee of Peers

The University Committee of Peers (UCP) is entrusted with the evaluation of all files submitted for academic promotion in compliance with USEK faculty bylaw and all related policies and procedures.

University Senate Bylaws

In accordance with USEK bylaws, and in response to faculty concerns, needs and initiatives, USEK’s internal governance shall provide appropriate participation of its faculty members by founding a University Senate promoting communication, and effectively advancing the quality of the institution.

USEK Honorary Degree Policy

The Holy Spirit University of Kaslik (the “University”, USEK) awards honorary degrees to distinguished candidates whose exceptional scholarly, artistic, professional, philanthropic, or humanitarian achievements exemplify the mission of the University and whose career or lifetime accomplishments serve as inspirational models for its students, faculty, staff, and alumni.

Workload Policy

This policy and its procedures define the academic workload of all faculty members at the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik (USEK). The faculty workload shall encompass but not limited to teaching, the performance of research and engagement with professional development activities and service opportunities to the University as defined in USEK Faculty bylaws.
